For Season Two, Beacon Hill has a brand new theme song, Hurricane. We spoke with Katie Mac, who told us how Hurricane came to be.
Tell us about yourself, Katie.
I’m a singer/songwriter and session singer from NYC. I’m a former
Warner/Chappell writer and have 7 Daytime Emmy Nominations for Best Original Song. My song “Only Love” was the theme for the long running daytime drama Guiding Light. For many years I had a rock band that played at many clubs in the NYC area.
I also am a big animal lover and have a children’s book series called “The Secret Adventures Of Scruffy MacMuffin” www.scruffymacmuffin.com. The latest book in the series is called “The Legend Of Loki Super Puppy”. The series is to spotlight the the plight of senior shelter pets and to encourage people to adopt senior!
How did you come up with Hurricane and what inspired you?
I was very inspired the show. I watched and LOVED season one. As I drove to my co writer Askold Buk’s house I started exploring lyric and melody ideas. I had sent him a few reference songs for vibe. He had a track idea and I started singing over it. It took about 2 or 3 hours to write. I sang the final vocals then and there in two takes. Askold produced the track over the weekend. Voila!
We are all so happy to be a part of the Beacon Hill The Series Season 2 team! My partner and husband Tim Ouimette and other partner Jon Cobert created the underscore for the series. Stay safe! Stay Healthy!
